Caribbean Cupid aims to help you meet people who are from or who have ancestry in the Caribbean. It’s part of the Cupid Media network, a group of over 30 dating sites that provide quality services to their members. As such, its members are from all over the world and all walks of life.
With a vast range of features, we were impressed by what Caribbean Cupid has to offer its members, although we did feel that limited membership numbers meant that these features sometimes weren’t as useful as they could be. There are a couple of differences to bear in mind too, before deciding to pay to use this website.
Caribbean Cupid offers a free trial membership option so you can have a look around and check out the searching options. Once you’ve done this, if things look promising then the gold or platinum membership packages may turn out to be a valuable investment.
Each offer provides different benefits, although the Platinum package, in our opinion, offers better value for money since you get more features and free members can talk to you if you contact them. This is useful as it means that you can get to chat to someone before other members, and therefore potentially get to know each other and date before anyone else gets a chance.
Sadly, there are far fewer members using Caribbean Cupid than its bigger sister, Afro Introductions, and therefore your dating options are more limited. However, fewer dating options doesn’t mean that you won’t find someone who interests you and, if you’re exclusively looking for Caribbean dating, then this site won’t be over-run by non-Caribbean users. Still, when we logged on there were only 60 members online, which is pretty low in comparison to sites which sometimes have thousands of members online at once.
Caribbean Cupid offers a selection of useful features to help you create a profile and draw in other members. You can include all the essential information you wish, plus a bit extra to help sell yourself. All members can upload multiple photos, and you can chat to paying members if they decide to get in touch with you.
If you don't have much time, the basic profile will take just minutes to finish, but completing your profile will allow you to really flourish and tell everyone about yourself.
The search functions are very detailed and allow you to be exact about the sort of relationship you’re looking for. Members can also add a 'Personality Profile' to their regular profiles, to tell members a little more about them. If you don’t fancy searching or browsing the site then you can receive automatic matches, highlighting members you might find to your liking.
As with most dating sites, there is a useful internal mail system which allows you to send private email-style messages. You can also send 'interests' to let others know that you're interested in chatting them, which is useful if you don’t have the time or inclination to write personal messages to every member you like.
Caribbean Cupid also has an instant messaging service which allows you to chat in real-time using text. If you’d prefer to talk than type, there are several video options: you can record a video profile for all members to see you or send private video mail to make things more personal. This is a great way to take things to the next level as your body language, facial expressions and voice can help to make things more personal.
If you need any help the site has a decent FAQ but they also have a range of articles to read, which could be invaluable.
Caribbean Cupid might not have the same punch as some of the bigger sites around, but it’s set up well and has most of the features you’ll need. Sadly its lower membership numbers mean that these features aren’t as useful, however it’s still good to have them.
If you’re interested in Caribbean dating this is definitely a hot spot, but if you have a wider scope then you may wish to look elsewhere.
